Client: Ben Taylor
Budget: N/A
Duration: 2 months to complete design work
Description: The client brief was to design an extension to an existing early 1900’s home that is contemporary in style yet sympathetic to the original building. The extension should incorporate a new open plan rear living space that opens out to the rear courtyard space, a ensuite for the main bedroom, a laundry and a separate garage building.
The result is a minimalist design with large areas of tinted glazing that provide views from the living area to the rear courtyard and lap pool. The main building structure consists of a steel frame skillion roof with parapet to maintain a low profile and timber frame infill walls. The white exterior render finish and the polished timber floor compliment the features of the original building. The 2 car garage building maintains the same style with access provided by a rear lane way.

Client: Riverview Property Trust
Budget: $1.5M +
Duration: 12 months to complete design work
Description: The client brief was to design a commercial office that can accommodate a number of tenancies and provide elevated views of the adjacent Murray River and park precinct. The exterior and interior should be contemporary in style, incorporate clean lines and quality materials. The building frontage was set back from the footpath so the scale of the building frontage did not dominate the streetscape. An existing shop, storage shed and car park were demolished to provide a cleared site. The upper level of the building is designated for office space while the lower level is mainly an under cover car park. A common foyer at lower level provides access from the street to the upper office level via a staircase and elevator. High levels of insulation were included in the design to create a thermally efficient building envelope, along with the use of large areas of external glazing to allow use of natural light.

Client: Curtis Nominees
Budget: $400,000 +
Duration: 3 months to complete design work
Description: The design brief was to develop a cost effective building to display and service Nissan brand motor vehicles. The interior space includes a showroom, offices, customer service/waiting areas, amenities, parts storage and vehicle workshop, while the exterior is made up of car yard, parking and landscaping zones.
Large areas of commercial glazing to the showroom provide an outlook to the exterior, while internal glazing is used to open up the office spaces. Multi folding glazed doors allow vehicle access in and out of the showroom. A steel framed building structure forms the basis of the building with internal stud walls and suspended ceilings. The use of polished floor tiles, feature walls and bright furniture were specified to match corporate requirements.
