Fast Fact

Over an 8 year period there have been many break-in attempts with less than 10 being successful due to the long period required to
access units.

Fast Fact

The H-E-S has been designed such that when pressure is applied to the shutter, the ends tighten within the side tracks, making it more difficult to access.

Fast Fact

The Hand-E-Safe is highly recommended by the Police and major Insurance Companies.

Hand-E-Safe (H-E-S) Roller Shutter System

The Hand-E-Safe Roller Shutter System was developed by Hand Built to fulfill a need for a secure cabinet within the retail market. It was initially used by the tobacco industry to protect an expensive commodity that is a common target by criminals. The H-E-S has been used in the retail tobacco field since November 2000, with in excess of 17,000 units being installed.

Unique design

The H-E-S roller shutter system is constructed from a combination of materials. The side tracks are formed from an extruded aluminium section with the curved profile achieved using a specially developed bending machine. The shutter itself uses an extruded closed aluminium section with no seams. Nylon end caps are fitted to the ends of each slat and lock into the side tracks.

The locking mechanism uses folded steel rails and a sliding stainless steel tongue. A very heavy duty padlock is used to secure the sliding tongue in place. The track and rails are fitted to a timber cabinet, with the sides clad with sheet metal. The timber cabinet and H-E-S roller shutter system can be finished to match the majority of decor requirements. Most H-E-S roller shutter components have a powder coated finish while the cabinet is manufactured from prefinished laminated board.

A range of sizes are available while the internal cabinet space can be tailored to suit the customers requirements (eg. adjustable timber or glass shelving, slat wall, pegboard, etc.) Hand Built can provide the timber cabinets and H-E-S shutters in kit or assembled form, depending on order quantities and customer requirements.

Independent testing

The Hand-E-Safe has been independently tested to determine the integrity of the system with regard to resisting access by thieves. A number of common hand tools were used, with none successful within a 5 minute period.
